One of the most important and vital parts of your vehicles engine is the timing belt. The timing belt is used to synchronise the rotation of the crankshaft and the camshaft. This synchronisation ensures that the engine's valves open and close at the correct times in relation to the position of the pistons. Manufacturers recommend replacement at certain age and mileage to minimise engine failure. Also many other factors have to be taken into account; has the vehicle been warmed up correctly, has the correct maintenance procedures been carried out at the specified times, has the correct engine oil been used? If we have to disturb the coolant pump we strongly recommend it to be renewed (usually in a timing belt kit) and renew the engine coolant.
